About CETL

The establishment of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning in 2013 is a major step forward towards improving the quality of education offered at Palestine Polytechnic University.

The Center was established in cooperation with AMIDEAST and the sponsorship of USAID, to achieve excellence in teaching and learning in the university through various educational activities and programs. The center seeks to improve the teaching skills and to build educational capacity of PPU staff to accomplish educational excellence through training, consultations, introducing new teaching methodologies and conducting reseach on teaching & learning l. It provides a rich environment for academics from different disciplines to exchange ideas and experiences and to cooperate in developing their academic activities.

 

Mission

“To achieve educational and academic excellence by exploring innovative practices and adopting interactive student centered approaches of teaching and learning. This mission will be accomplished through involving all academic staff of PPU in capacity building programs, and cooperating with ranked schools and centers of education around the world.”

 

Goals and objectives

The main goal of the PPUCETL is to provide PPU academic staff with the appropriate environment to improve themselves through comprehensive educational activities that will include round table discussions, learning communities, training workshops ,educational consultancies and conducting research on teaching and learning.

 

Activities

  • Conducting training of the faculty members and staff on syllabus design, methods of teaching, assesment and evaluation, using technology in teaching and other related topics.
  • Holding TOT international training.
  • Participating in international scientific visits and conferences.
  • Developing teaching award system.
  • Developing classroom research activities.
  • Providing staff with the needed resources for teaching and learning.
  • Organizing workshops in a wide range of educational topics.
  • Organizing  national conferences and symposiums on teaching and learning.
  • Networking with similar national and international centers.
